As the so called Fiscal Cliff approaches, Wyoming Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis is not sure that Speaker of the House John Boehner and President Obama can reach an agreement.
Lummis says there has been little progress talks between Boehner and President Obama. She blames the administration. While Lummis supports modest tax increases, she said there must be substantial budget cuts as well.
“ They will not put their spending cuts on the table, and honestly for people like me they have to have spending cuts in order to get a deal”
According to Gallup, just 50% of those polled said they think President Obama and Congress are at least somewhat likely to reach a budget compromise. Lummis says there is a 3-1 chance America falls off the fiscal cliff.
“Which means the spending cuts kick in $1.2 trillion and tax rates go up on everybody.”
A majority of survey respondents, 54%, said they approve of the way that Obama has handled the negotiations, Just 26% said they approve of Boehner and the Republican congressional leadership.
