The United States Government is bringing a number of Foreign Ambassadors to Jackson Hole this weekend to learn about conservation and preservation. The trip is being led by U-S Chief of Protocol Capricia Penavic Marshall who says the goal is to teach the diplomats about how the National Park System is a major part of the country’s environmental heritage. She hopes this will lead to an interesting discussion.
“We are going to engage in a great dialogue with one and other. What are they doing in their countries? What are we doing here? And how can we possibly learn from them? And certainly we want to show them our great efforts and particularly all the challenges we all face in trying to preserve and protect them.”
Ambassador Marshall said they will also learn about search-and-rescue operations in the park system and meet with area public and private sector leaders. She said they’ve taken the diplomats on similar trips in the past to gain a better understanding about American people and heritage.
Nearly two dozen ambassadors representing countries from five continents are on the trip. Marshall said they will be seeing a part of the country that most have never seen before.
