The Miss Rodeo Wyoming pageant crowned its 2023 winner on August 18 to represent the state's rodeo scene at events across the state and on the national stage. The annual event has been a staple of the Wyoming State Fair for years, and for many, celebrates and represents the sport of rodeo and the Western way of life.

The WSF kicked off on Tuesday, Aug. 16 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 20. New additions this year, such as entertainment acts and food vendors, are combined with more traditional fair attractions, like youth livestock showing and a PRCA rodeo. This year's attendance is set to be on par with last year's. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online.

More competitors, visitors, and even horses, helped to set records this year. The rodeo has rotated through Gillette regularly since the first event was held there in 1993.

The CNFR has called Casper's Ford Wyoming Center home since 1999 and has been held there annually since then with the exception of 2020 due to the pandemic. Around 400 of the nation's top student athletes representing more than 11 regions and 100 different colleges and universities are competing in the hopes of achieving the coveted title of national champion.

The National High School Rodeo Association will require host venues to meet certain requirements for future National High School & Junior High Rodeos beginning in 2030. The Cam-Plex has hosted the National High School Finals Rodeo on a rotating basis for almost 30 years, but will need to meet the new requirements if it wants to remain a host site.

Events such as skijoring and snow biking have been cancelled this year, but other events are still slated to continue as normal. Despite the lack of snow, the different festivities have still proven quite popular.
