Wyoming Public Media Photo Contest Winners – 2018

Wyoming Public Radio & Media

Congratulations to this year’s Wyoming Public Media Photo Contest winners!

We were lucky to receive so many beautiful entries from all over Wyoming, and it was difficult to choose the best. The winners were chosen by listeners who voted for their favorite in each category, Wyoming’s Nature, Wyoming's People, and Wyoming’s History. We have posted the top 4 in each category below.

I captured this moment during my service with the Wyoming Conservation Corps while working in Sinks Canyon. I'm studying Wildlife Biology & Fisheries Management and Energy & Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming. I love photography, hiking, and anything that can get me outside.

My name is Kathleen (Kathy) Milks.  I am a self-employed massage therapist and also work part time as a massage therapist for UW athletics.  A couple of years ago I took my hobby of many years, photography,  and created Dynamic Endeavors Photography.   I spend most of my free time wandering and exploring our many incredible public lands, capturing those things that catch my eye.  This photo was taken in July in the Snowies.

I live 5 miles south of Alpine, WY, in the north end of the beautiful Star Valley. I was born and raised in Cody; went to college at Casper College, U of WY (Go Pokes!), and U of MN; lived in WY, MN, CO, SD, and was misplaced in Nebraska (Go Big Red!) for 25 years. My husband Chuck (who’s also a WY native) and I moved back to WY in 2013. I love my family, photography, and cooking. I chronicle the year with photos taken from our deck in the Salt mountain range (http://www.theviewfromourdeck.com). I enjoy photographing the beauty of all the seasons in Wyoming (even mud season); that’s my WY.

Diana Kopulos - Wagon Wheel Garden

I came to Laramie 45 summers ago and was one of the original owners of Rainbow Photography, a combination camera store, portrait studio and B/W & color lab. I specialized in portraiture, especially children, and still life photography. Transitioning to digital wasn't easy but now I have embraced it as it is much faster and cleaner with many more options for creative expression. After a string of interesting jobs, I am now retired and enjoy photography as a hobby and sometimes show my work locally. I just upgraded to a DSLR and hope to pursue portraiture again and continue to use what I've learned to showcase the beauty that is Wyoming.
