Wyoming prepares to face Air Force

Wyoming and Air Force renew their college football rivalry Saturday night in Colorado Springs when the two teams meet to open the Mountain West Conference season.  Wyoming is focused on getting its offense back on track while preparing for the difficult Air Force offense.

Air Force uses a lot of option…where the Quarterback can either hand the ball off…pitch it to a running back…or run the ball himself.  This season Air Force is throwing the ball as well and Wyoming Coach Dave Christensen says it makes the Falcons difficult to play.

“They’ve always been tricky to prepare for.  They are different then what we usually see on a weekly basis from an offensive standpoint and so it is different no matter what they are doing.  So there are a lot of things to prepare for and they’ve presented a lot thus far in a very short season.”

Christensen has spent the week trying to get his own offense out of a rut.  The last time these two teams met Wyoming Coach Dave Christensen unloaded on Air Force Coach Troy Calhoun after the game…accusing Calhoun of forcing a player to fake an injury late in the game.   Christensen was suspended for his outburst.  This week he was asked if there will be any extra incentive for his team to win this weekend.

“You know our focus is on execution of our offense, our defense and special teams and being ready to play Saturday night.  That’s where the focus is at, my behavior is going to be much better and I’ll watch my p’s and q’s and you know the focus should be on the players and teams and not on the coaches."

Kickoff is at 8:15 Saturday night.  The game will be televised by ESPNU.
