Twitter Chat With State Superintendent Of Public Instruction Jillian Balow

Department of Education

This Wednesday, November 18, from 5:45pm to 6:30pm, Aaron Schrank will be hosting a live Twitter chat with State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow. He'll be posing questions about career readiness, as WDE recently created its Wyoming Career Readiness Council and is working to create a strategic plan to improve career readiness in Wyoming schools.

On Twitter, use the hashtag #WPREdTalk. Anyone can tweet questions using that hashtag, and Aaron will be picking some of those questions to pose to the Superintendent.

Tweet to Aaron at the handle @aaronschrank. He'll also be presenting questions gathered beforehand from educators, parents and students around the state. Send any potential questions to aschran1@uwyo.edu.

Superintendent Balow will be leading a state team in developing a process to use economic data to strengthen career education and put new programs in place. The effort follows a report by the Council of Chief State School Officers encouraging states to make high school programs more responsive to the labor market by partnering with regional employers. Wyoming is one of 17 states that accepted assistance from CCSSO to shape these recommendations into a strategic career readiness plan. The Wyoming Department of Education says its Career Readiness Council will partner with the Department of Workforce Services, Wyoming’s colleges and the CTE team within the Department to create a “steering committee” guiding implementation of its strategic plan.

Here’s a WDE press release.
