Same Sex Marriage Supporters Turn Out

Supporters from all walks of life attended the kickoff of a new statewide education campaign that is intended to draw support for same sex marriage.  Four same sex couples and the “gay rights” advocacy group Wyoming equality filed lawsuit challenging Wyoming’s law that says marriage can only be between a man and a woman.

Wyoming Equality Chairman Jeran Artery says the issue is important to many people.

“It’s not only same sex couples who are saying…look I want the freedom marry…I think it’s also important that we show that there are leaders in the state’s community that are involved and this is important to them, our straight allies, it’s important to everyone.”

Artery says the education campaign will involve presentations across the state.

“Everything from town halls to student events, faith coalitions, and we’ll be featuring same sex couples, community leaders, elected officials, clergy.”

Artery says it’s time that Wyoming lives up to its motto as the Equality State.  He says putting a face on same-sex couples will help make it more acceptable.
