New Broadband Manager Aims To Expand Internet Access

Wyoming Business Council

The Wyoming Business Council has hired Russell Elliott as Broadband Manager for the state of Wyoming. Elliott previously worked in telecommunications in New Mexico and Colorado.

Elliott will be tasked with identifying areas with no broadband or low internet speeds and finding solutions for coverage. This means advising businesses and managing public-private partnerships to fill gaps in funding.

Elliot said, “Wyoming is fairly well served in some of its metropolitan or more urban areas. But as you get out to the more rural reaches of the state, some of those communities and citizens are not having access to the type of broadband that people need to have these days to be functional in an educational or work environment.”

Elliott said broadband is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for schools and business to operate.

London is a senior at the University of Wyoming studying Film Theory and Media Production. He grew up listening to Wyoming Public Radio, and has always had a fascination with unique human interest stories.
