National Touring Bands Come To Lander

Lander LIVE Website

A new free concert series starts this week in Lander. Lander LIVE kicks off Tuesday, July 21st, with a performance by Memphis-based country-rock band Lucero. The bands Donna the Buffalo, Pimps of Joytime, and Elephant Revival are each scheduled to play later this summer.

Unlike many concerts, Lander LIVE is always on a Tuesday night.

“So you can get really big names, and they have availability, and they’re traveling from major city to major city during the week days,” says Lander Chamber of Commerce Director Brian Fabel, explaining how the weekday night allows Lander LIVE to schedule national acts.

The concerts will take place at Jaycee Park in downtown Lander. A permanent stage for Lander LIVE is currently under construction.

“The staging that we had available in Fremont County was not going to be sufficient for the bands that we booked,” says Event Director Rose Burke, “We saw a lot of other communities had built their own stage. We approached the city and other partners and that’s how the stage got built.”

With the new stage, Lander will be able to accommodate big name bands as well as have another place to showcase local talent.
