Wyoming U.S. Senator Mike Enzi is thrilled with legislation that will revamp the No Child Left Behind education law.
Enzi sat on the conference committee that came up with the final version of the bill. He said it returns the responsibility of educating students back to states and school districts.
“It ensures that Wyoming teachers and school leaders have the power to tailor the education to meet the needs of all students, even in the most rural and remote communities. For too long now I’ve heard stories from teachers, from students, from parents across Wyoming about the harm inflicted by the prep for the test system that’s been in place.”
Enzi says the new law will give states and local school districts more authority on testing.
Senator John Barrasso also supported the legislation, but Representative Cynthia Lummis voted against it. President Obama is expected to sign the bill today.
