Cowboys get ready for #15 Texas

The Wyoming Cowboys football team opens the season at nationally ranked Texas Saturday night.  The Cowboys have spent the offseason trying to fine tune their defense, which struggled at times last season.  Head Coach Dave Christensen says his defense is showing improvement.

“I like our guys in the secondary; I think they’ve practiced well.  Not as experienced at linebacker, is probably the one place where we will gain experience as we go along. I like the way we’ve been playing up front with our defensive line.  Now we have to go out and get it done on Saturday afternoon’s.”

Christensen said Monday that the entire team has improved since last year, but that Texas will be a tough challenge.

“I don’t think that’s a fair evaluation of where we are at, win, lose or draw, no matter what happens in the football game.  But we know this, we have areas we wanted to improve, both offensively, defensively and in the kicking game and Texas will be great opportunity to make that first evaluation on it.”

It’s the third time in four years that the Cowboys will play the Longhorns, and Christensen is hoping his team can play beyond just one good half.  Kickoff is Saturday night at six.
