Relative Theatrics is happy to welcome audiences back to the LPCC Gryphon Theatre for Season 9: Returning - Re-Envisioning - Rewiring. The year of contemporary, thought-provoking plays begins with RIDING BICYCLES IN THE RAIN by Erin Considine, September 10, 11, 12; 17, 18, 19; 24, 25. An intimate new play with well-paced dialogue and nuanced humor, this world premiere was included in the 4th Annual Playwrights Voiced Festival at Relative Theatrics in 2018. The production is directed by Andrew Thornton and features Justen Glover, Darin Hill, Kim Lockhart, and Alison Quaggin Harkin. Relative Theatrics’ 9th season will occur live at the LPCC Gryphon Theatre for all patrons, as well as streaming on-demand for season ticket holders.

Atlanta-based playwright, Erin Considine, relishes in creating stories that other artists bring to life. Her 2018 play, RIDING BICYCLES IN THE RAIN, celebrates the spirit of neighborhood in rural communities. The play captures a snapshot of remote living: Just outside of Nowhere sits a small farmhouse. Just inside that farmhouse sits an old marine with a lousy attitude and a heart bypass. Brady returns to both the farmhouse and the father she thought she’d left behind just long enough to get him back on his feet. While Brady is stagnating in suburbia she meets James, and together they ponder God, armadillos, and the possibility of falling in love.

A partnership with Laramie Interfaith, the production is the first installment of Relative Theatrics’ Community Organization Partnership program. The program, which pairs an influential local non-profit with a Relative Theatrics production, aims to inspire education and advocacy for the mission of the partnered entity in order to involve local citizens and to spark conversations about the organization's purpose and impact. Producing Artistic Director Anne Mason shares, “It’s very exciting to return to live theatre with this heartwarming, topical story that celebrates neighborhood and human connection. The play’s characters provide a perfect example of ‘Neighbors Helping Neighbors,’ the motto of our Community Organization Partner, Laramie Interfaith. I’m proud to introduce this new collaborative initiative from Relative Theatrics with such a valuable local nonprofit.” Relative Theatrics strives to present thought-provoking theatre that examines the joining qualities of the human race. We believe that theatre is a forum with the power to illuminate the binding qualities of humanity and reinforce the ideals that as a society we have values that pose as common ground and emotions that relate us to one another. Taking artistic risk, we provide a community gathering place where thoughts can be exchanged about society, culture, and the power of creativity. Opening performance is Friday September 10th 7:30pm, Doors open at 7pm with performances continuing on September 11 & 12, 17-19, and 24 & 25. Sunday performances are at 2pm, Doors open at 1:30pm. All performances will be located at the Gryphon Theatre inside the Laramie Plains Civic Center. All performances are followed by a chat-back with the actors and design team. The play contains adult themes and language.
