Event Description

The Cheyenne Audubon free public program is Jan. 21, 7 p.m., Cottonwood Room, Laramie County Library, 2200 Pioneer Ave. Jacelyn Downey, Audubon Rockies education program manager, will introduce the new Wyoming Master Naturalist Program and its kickoff pilot, “Moose Day.” A short supply of volunteers limits community-based conservation efforts. Many communities and organizations rely on volunteers for youth education programs; for operating parks, nature centers, and natural areas; and for providing leadership in local natural resource conservation efforts. The new Master Naturalist program will train volunteers. Jacelyn Downey also organizes the annual Wyoming BioBlitz in cooperation with the University of Wyoming Biodiversity Institute. The BioBlitz brings together scientists and community scientists, also known as citizen scientists (the public) from around the state to survey the biodiversity of a new area each year. This year it will be held July 17 at the Brinton Museum, Big Horn, Wyoming. For more information about this and other Cheyenne Audubon activities, visit https://cheyenneaudubon.wordpress.com/.
