The Ranch Breakfast Show started in 1984 as a half-hour segment hosted by Tom Wilhelm. Since then, Tom has grown it into Wyoming’s premier acoustic music show, serving up big helpings of bluegrass, old-time, and folk music every Saturday.

Dakota Dave Hull is one of America’s premier finger-style guitarists. Based in Minnesota, Dakota Dave logs a lot of miles touring, so here’s a composition that fades out like the highway receding in the rear-view mirror.

The Big Horn Mountain Festival in Buffalo celebrates ten years of roots, bluegrass and Americana music at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, July 11 through 13. Wyoming Public Radio’s Micah Schweizer asked one of the organizers, Paul Jarvis, to remember the festival’s early years.

Host Tom Wilhelm of the "Ranch Breakfast Show" is celebrating 33 years of being on air with Wyoming Public Radio. The bluegrass radio show started in the early 1980s and has continued to be a great local music program.

Tune in for these upcoming Ranch Breakfast programs. 

·        May 5  Water Music with songs about rivers, lakes and oceans and the people who make their living on them.  A few rain songs thrown in to coax some spring showers on our dry state.

·        May 12 Get ready moms for a special Mother’s Day Salute.  You’ll hear “Medals for Mothers” from the Osborne Brothers and “Mothers, Don’t Let your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys.”

Laramie now has two bluegrass jams going.  The Bluegrass Jam at Coal Creek Coffee House happens the third Wednesday of every month from 7:00 till 10:00. (Hey, that’s March 21st.)  Beginners are welcome.  So bring your instrument or come to listen.  The other Bluegrass Jam happens the first Thursday of the month at Night Heron Books on Ivinson Avenue in Laramie.  Let me know if your community has a bluegrass/folk jam and we’ll get it posted.
