Rep. Cynthia Lummis’ challenger in the Republican primary says Wyoming needs a representative who’s good at negotiating.
Republican Jason Senteney says stalemates like the one that shut down the federal government are the result of lawmakers’ stubbornness.
If elected, he says he would be more open to compromise: “more like an Alan Simpson type of Republican.”
“Sometimes you don’t always get your way one hundred percent,” Senteney sad. “But I want to do what’s best of the people of Wyoming. And I think having a totally one-sided opinion or one-sided stance isn’t what’s best for the people of Wyoming, or the country.”
Senteney says among his priorities in office would be eliminating federal income tax and imposing a nation-wide sales tax instead.
Senteney works for the Department of Corrections, and is a former marine. He has no previous experience in politics.
Lummis’ office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
