Archives On The Air 89: Papier-Mâché Presidents—The Stanley Glaubach Papers

Stanley Glaubach was a sculptor and visual artist who worked for prominent magazines in the 1960s. He was known for working with papier-mâché, models, found objects and bright colors.

Glaubach made covers and photos for articles in TIME Magazine, Esquire and The New York Times. He also made advertisements.

Miniature figures were iconic to Glaubach’s style. He utilized mini figures for most of his advertising work.

Glaubach created US presidents in papier-mâché for magazines. He created a bust of President Richard Nixon covered in newspaper headlines when Nixon was TIME Magazine’s man of the year in 1972.

Glaubach died of a heart attack in 1973 at age 48.
